Hello everyone,

I want to start off by saying thanks for the raid earlier tonight even though it had its ups and downs. The revert to normal resulted in a smooth run through easy content.

Why am I making this post?

As the title states I'm concerned about how the future (real) heroic progression will turn out if we, as a raid team, make severe mistakes on the simplest of normal mechanics. This is not directed at anyone in perticular nor is it directed towards any specific encounter.

Obviously mistakes are much easier to detect on heroic-mode due to sheer damage scaling. There are constant simple mistakes being made by everyone in the raid which unfortunately don't always result in a wipe during normal encounters. Mistakes range from simple things such as avoiding "Shadow Crash" on Cho'gall to more advanced things, such as planning ahead when it comes to stacking, general movement and debuff management.

As players can get away with not knowing ALL of the mechanics on normal, a player might not feel the urge to properly study them and thus not learning the fight properly. This first shows (as it did tonight) on heroic encounters. The main issue here is that we waste a HUGE amount of time learning how to handle trivial mechanics instead of adapting to the additional mechanics we face on heroic encounters.

What do I want to say with this QQ-post?

I just implore everyone to put some effort into learning the encounters as we, as a team, intend to take on heroic mode bosses in the near future. EVery mechanic needs to be known by heart and you should be prepared for each mechanic to the best of your ability during the encounters. Hopefully we'll see a big difference in performance for the next lockout-period.

This post became a bit (read much) longer than expected and is, as stated earlier, not targetted at anyone in perticular.

Anyways, let's get our act together for next lockout and get some progression going! Can't wait!

(Tl:dr: LEARN tactics, stop fucking up, mistakes happen SOMETIMES, focus the fuck up.)

Nice read actually. Tonight, I've seen quite few players during our ODS attempts running around and losing DPS because they weren't sure what to do, also very slow reaction time on lightning conductor, stacking and acquiring target.

Some of you also did slack on adds, during protocol, and last add would be ignored on almost 20% of our attempts for some unknown reason? Why am I saying this? Well, all of those things happened because players weren't aware of encounter mechanics and their importance. One slime left alive is potential wipe, two ticks of lightning conductor in raid is probably a wipe too, unless there are no other active mechanics that'll deal more damage. Even one tick of conductor is whole raid is risky, as you could've seen if Magmatron is up and he does Incineration Security Measure in same time, burst damage will be too high, and one player will probably die. We can't waste our raid CD's because one or two players lack awareness, and their reaction time is terrible.

Am I expecting too much from you guys? No I'm not! This is nerfed content and we should be able to handle it with ease.

Generally speaking.

If you join as a trial or raider - we expect you to know any and all tactics that we encounter both on normal and heroics.

Reading is nice but watching videos are also helpful to minimise mistakes.

e.g. If we raid BwD and plan to take omnitron HC, reading up on only him at HC is not enough. Knowig how Atra (our next HC target) is also vital - and knowing everything in normal is obligatory.

Everyone will fuck up from time to time - but knowing what you did wrong is key.

Secondly, when you make a mistake or are uncertain of tactics - make the team aware of those uncertainties. If you have only seen a video and read tactics, something can happen that you may or may not be preperred for.

Better safe than sorry. GL on next week :)

I agree with the above posts. To add to this, many of the problems that occurred in ODS was tactics related to the normal version: Not switching during shield, not killing slimes and not running away while having lightning conductor.

It seems like these problems aren't exactly new, but just highlighted due to heroic being more punishing than normal. EG. the shield only has half hp before it wipes the raid.

So I would advise anyone raiding anything on heroic to read the whole encounter again, heroic included instead of just skimming the normal and then read the heroic.
Also, if you use Icy Veins as your source, it would be very advisable to not only read for your specific class but also the "advanced guide", since it provides more insight into the boss and will enable you to fuck up less.

So please, read up on tactics, don't just skim it.
